"No big deal," I thought to myself as my tiny hangnail snagged against the fabric.

"Ok, big deal," I thought after I pulled away and ripped my skin open down my finger, hand, and arm.

 

작은 손톱이 천에 걸렸을 때 "별일 아니야"라고 혼자 생각했다.

"그래, 별일이야." 손가락, 손, 팔의 피부가 찢어지고 나서야 나는 생각했다.

 

 

I ran down my hallway into the bathroom and slammed the door behind me, locking it and falling on the floor in the process.

“Honey where are you?” I heard my mom’s kind, loving voice as I heard something scratching the wood floors and sprinting across the hall to me on all fours.

 

나는 복도를 내려가 화장실로 달려가 문을 쾅 닫아 잠그며 바닥에 쓰러졌다.

"얘야, 어디 있니?" 엄마의 친절하고 다정한 목소리가 들리는 와중에 무언가 나무 바닥을 긁으며 네 발로 복도를 가로질러 나에게 달려오고 있었다.
